MUNICIPAL LAW

Storino, Ramello & Durkin concentrates in the practice of municipal law. Our municipal clients include cities, villages, school districts and local commissions. The firm serves as general corporation counsel to a number of municipal clients, representing and advising them on everything from routine procedural matters to complex litigation. The firm’s attorneys are experienced in dealing with the matters affecting units of local government, including, but not limited to, local government practices and procedures; the drafting of ordinances and resolutions; administration and personnel issues; preparation and review of contracts; operational and licensure requirements for businesses; land use and zoning; the acquisition of property; annexation; condemnation and eminent domain; public sector financing, including tax increment financing, special service areas and special assessments; civil rights defense; telecommunications and cable franchises and general liability.


In addition, the firm has expertise in the area of labor and employment law and provides its municipal clients with comprehensive legal services in this area, including collective bargaining negotiations. 


The firm also serves as special legal counsel to a number of additional villages, cities and local commissions, providing legal services in the areas listed above as well as bond issues, tax work and complex litigation. Additionally, the firm is retained as the Village Prosecutor for several municipalities and handles the prosecution of local ordinance violations for these clients.
